My sis, Stacie, and I decided it would be an exciting adventure to go searching for mermaids in downtown Norfolk... We spent two days, maps in hand, traveling the streets in search of the maidens. It was a great way to see the city! From the waterfront to the historic section and everywhere in between! We met many a friendly "norfolkians" happy to share the tale of their mermaid. We have quite a few more mermaids to track - like Moomaid, Toga, Music Moasic, and many more. Some we know where to find but others are hiding - let us know if you spot any so we can add them to our collection!

It looks like some of the mermaids may have evolved or changed enitrely over time - for more info on their history or for infromation on starting your own mermaid search check out mermaidsonparade.com.

For that much needed nourishment on your journey sip a starbucks, grab a burger at Johnny Rockets, Doumars (not my fave) or dine at Amalfi! (They have the cutest covered patio.)

We're loving being downtown - any other places we should check out?

Hi Fam! I am not sure if I am doing this right, but I like the blog. Jessica, you really have a knack for that stuff. Stacy, love the pictures! Especially the one with you on the phone. James, keep practicing. Maybe one day you will beat me in boxing. I will bring it on vacation with me, but it has been freezing up the last couple of times I played it. I have to go back to work now. Talk to you later.

That's a great idea! Sounds like a lot of fun. We went to the Freemason Abby for Don's birthday and found a few as we walked the street near there. The starbuck and burgers don't sound too bad either!

Looks like you and your sister are having a great time together!! How many more mermaids do you need to find? Fun ideal. A wonderful restaurant to try is Todd Jurich's; however, it is more of a special occasion place as it cost a VERY pretty penny!!!!!

How fun! Did you get the one at the zoo? There's also one near the airport on the way to the Botanical Gardens.
